Course Description: This course contains content in the following areas: Similarity, Pythagorean Theorem, special right triangles, trigonometric ratios, circles, area, surface area and volume, and basic constructions. Upon the completion of A, B, and C the Michigan graduation geometry requirement will be met.
Course Content:
Foundations of Geometry, Geometric Reasoning, Logic and Proofs, Parallel and Perpendicular Lines, Triangle Congruence, Properties of Triangles.
Evaluation Criteria: A student’s term grade will be determined as follows:
30% Assignments
30% Quizzes
40% Tests
Grading Scale:
100-93% A 82.99-80% B- 69.99-67% D+
92.99-90% A- 79.99-77% C+ 66.99-63% D
89.99-87% B+ 76.99-73% C 62.99-60% D-
86.99-83% B 72.99-70% C- Below 60% F
Trimester grade composition: The semester grade will be calculated as follows: 80% term grade and 20% term exam. A student who does not meet the attendance requirement (no more than 6 absences) must earn a 77% on the term exam to earn the credit.
Make-up work: The school policy for absences will be followed. When a student misses a day of school they have one day to make the work up. It will be the responsibility of the student to collect missed work. If a student collects their work in advance of an absence then it should be completed upon return to school.
Extra Credit: No extra credit assignments will be given.
